"Stay out of the way, is what I mean. Just, stay back." He opened the door and walked in quickly, seeing Ama, and headed toward the bathroom. Dodge stepped into the tiny room, seeing the beaten, bloody boy propped up against the wall. Ama turned to Dodge, relief flooding her face, "Thank god you're here!"

Crystal ignored Dodge, going through the front door quickly. "Where is he!?" She followed quickly, peeking her head through the doorway of the bathroom to see him. The blood drained from her face.

Dodge knelt down by the boy, and began questioning him, "What did they say? Did they make it clear that they would be coming back or not? Did you give them what they wanted?" Ama opened her mouth to say something, but thought against it and closed her mouth, just watching for a moment. Santanta moved his head against the wall until he could see Dodge's face. He just stared at him with a blank expression, not saying anything.

"Is he okay...?" She whispered to no one in particular.

Ama shrugged and stood up, stepping out of the bathroom to pull Crystal aside. "Why are you here?" she questioned rudely. Ama wasn't like this. She was always happy and cheerful, but now, she was angry and scared.
Dodge sighed when he didn't get an answer and asked simply, "Can you say something so I know if you can at least speak?" "Shut up," his voice was dull and cracked.

Crystal narrowed her eyes. "Why can't I be here?"

"It was only suppose to be Dodge here. Not you too," her voice was hard. Dodge was taken aback, "What?" "Shut up." Dodge stood up and turned to Ama, "I told her she could come, it's fine. Just finish cleaning him up. Let me know when he's ready to explain." He shoved passed the two girls and out the back door. Santanta pushed himself against the wall harder, again.

Crystal scowled, ignoring Dodge. "Whats wrong with me wanting to be here and see if he's not dieing?"

"Because what if he was? Would you really want to see him dieing? Do you think he would want you or anyone else anywhere around if he was dieing?" Ama argued.

Crystals hands curled into fists. "What's your problem!?" She snapped.

Ama's voice rose considerably, "What's my problem!? MY problem!? My brother is in there, bloody and bruised, and who knows what else might be wrong with him, And I can't do anything to help him!" She poked Crystal on the shoulder roughly and argued, "What is your problem?!"

Crystal scowled. "My problem is you." She said simply. "You're taking your anger out on me when I've done nothing wrong." She said in her quiet voice.

Ama relaxed and retreated back into the bathroom, grabbing the same cloth she was using before, rinsing it, and going back to trying to get the dried, crusted, sticky blood off the side of his face. Santanta watched a fly on the wall, not having very much energy to stop his sister. He hated the water on his face. Santanta took in a deep breath and felt the sharp pains in his rips, causing him to hold his breath for a moment before letting out the air slowly.

Crystal was confused, but she didn't say anything else. She looked down at her feet, her back leaning against the wall.

Ama finally got the stuff off his face and asked her brother, "Can you talk to Dodge? Please." "No." "Why not? He can help-" "Then he would have helped me a long time ago. He doesn't do anything to help, only tells me what to look out for. If he re-" his voice suddenly cut off as he broke into a fit of coughing. Ama stepped back slightly, unsure what to do.

Crystal heard the coughing and peeked her head into the doorway to see if he was okay.

The coughing got more violent. He leaned forward and every thing in his body ached with protest. Ama put her hand on his back as support, then he started choking.

He finally caught his breath as the choking and coughing came to an end. A cut on his back had reopened though and bits of blood could be seen through the bandage that Ama had put there. Ama moved the rag to his face and started wiping his forehead. "Stop," he shrugged his sister away from him. Ama looked at him sadly as she sat down, watching her brother. Santanta looked over at Crystal, almost as if he had just realized she was there. "I'm fine," he leaned his head back on the wall.

Crystal blinked in disbelief as she leaned on the door frame. "You don't look okay..."

His head began pounding again. Santanta closed his eyes as he mumbled, "Ama, get me some water." Ama nodded quickly and got up, rushing passed Crystal and into the kitchen to get a bottle of water. Santanta opened his eyes and looked at Crystal as he asked, "Did Dodge tell you what was going on?"

"For not telling you all this." Ama finally found a bottle of water and returned to the room, handing it to him. Santanta took the water and opened it.
